Accounting and Compliance Manager

Cape Breton Credit Union is a community based, full-service co-operative financial institution with branches in Sydney and Glace Bay NS with assets of more than $110 million and serving approximately 5200 members across Cape Breton.  Focused on providing quality products and services to members and giving back to the community within which we operate, Cape Breton Credit Union is looking for an Accounting and Compliance Manager who will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the credit union’s accounting system, and for leading the delivery of accounting and financial reporting as well as for performing a variety of functions related to compliance and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the credit union’s accounting and financial reporting process as well as coordinating, implementing and maintaining the credit union’s accounting information systems
  • Generating and analyzing financial statements
  • Completing analysis and projections of cash flow, investment strategies as well as conducting cost analysis ratios and trend analysis in order to provide recommendations
  • Developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance and risk management programs and ensuring compliance with credit union regulatory requirements and standards of sound business practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate for this position would hold a CPA designation and have several years of post-graduate experience. They would also possess superior financial management, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to details. They must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess a strong business acumen.
