The Person:

The Board of Directors of Community Credit Union is seeking an engaging CEO to inspire the fulfillment of the mission and vision of the Credit Union and the philosophy of a cooperative. We are looking for a creative thinker who will develop, in partnership with our Board of Directors, a robust strategic plan with reaching strategic goals. The successful candidate will have expertise in all core credit union operations and a deep understanding of the regulatory and risk environment. We are looking for someone who understands and will operate consistent with the seven international cooperative principles. The new CEO must possess strong interpersonal skills, an ability to inspire genuine enthusiasm for doing things better for our members while leading a collaborative team through mentorship and employee coaching. We are looking for a strong communicator who can build lasting relationships with our members, our employees, and our communities. The successful candidate must be respected for conducting himself or herself with integrity, honesty and trustworthiness. Additionally, we are looking for a proven track record of leadership, achieving goals, and a strong ability for problem solving and decision-making.

Position Description:

The CEO is responsible for providing leadership, planning and oversight of all credit union activities. The CEO is fully accountable for the management and performance of the entire organization. The CEO must translate the strategic plan and goals into operational tactics to continually move the Credit Union forward. The CEO is expected to continually be anticipating, appraising, interpreting and reacting to the regulatory and economic environments to ensure the development of appropriate operational policies and practices to guide staff when providing services and products to members, and in protecting the Credit Union’s financial health and reputation. The CEO is expected to identify trends in the delivery of financial services and the means by which members wish to interact with the Credit Union’s services and products. The CEO will be expected to manage, communicate and market the Credit Union and its services to members and prospective members. The CEO is to operate with transparency in the relationship with the Board of Directors, reporting on progress on the strategic objectives, the operational results, and the management of risk.

Community Credit Union of Cumberland Colchester Limited is a locally owned, member operated financial cooperative. Through two full service branches and a virtual presence, the Credit Union provides a full range of modern, quality financial services tailored to the needs of its members. The Credit Union offers refreshingly honest banking and takes pride in providing an exceptional member experience. The Credit Union has over 7,000 members in the communities of Amherst and Truro and the surrounding areas. The Credit Union currently has over $98 million in assets and over $50 million in managed assets.

Qualifications: Education and Years of Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in finance/business or related experience.  Ten or more years in Credit Union, Banking or Financial Services management at CEO or Senior Management level. Experience in Board/CEO relationships is preferred.  Experience in operations, human resources, regulatory compliance, marketing, finance, and business development is required.  Solid communication skills and a proven ability to develop and implement effective strategic plans are essential.
