Collections Officer

East Coast Credit Union is currently accepting applications for the full time position of Collections Officer. This position will report directly to the Manager of Administration. This position is responsible for delinquency control and collections of assigned branch loans including: maintenance of collection records, investigation of and follow-up on collection procedures, and attending small claims court.  This position is also the primary contact for legal and repossession services, ensuring appropriate actions are taken on foreclosed properties and bankruptcies.

The Position:
The Collections Officer will be responsible for:

  • Managing foreclosed properties
  • Providing financial counseling to members as required and referring members who require financial planning advice
  • Following collection procedures including recommending repossessions, demands, foreclosures, and small claims court appearances
  • Acting as liaison between members and various credit union departments
  • Preparing reports for credit committee monthly and attend meetings
  • Calculating and preparing allowance for impaired reports: delinquency rate report, loan statistical report and system credit committee report
  • Maintaining a current knowledge of all administrative functions within the department.  Acting as back up for other administrative functions within the administration department as required
  • Being knowledgeable in all products and services of the credit union

The Person:
The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of High School education; 5 years experience in the credit union system or equivalent industry related experience
  • Minimum of 2 years lending experience
  • Excellent knowledge of all credit union products in particular loan products
