Compliance Officer – Atlantic CUSO

COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Our company is searching for a motivated and experienced Compliance Officer to guarantee that our Wealth Management business processes and transactions in the Life Insurance and MFDA / IIROC portfolios follow all relevant legal and internal guidelines in accordance with Credit Union standards, industry regulations and corporate policies and procedures.  Your duties will include reviewing employee work, developing company policies, and responding to policy violations.

The ideal candidate will be professional, highly analytical and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be fluent in risk management and our industry’s principles.


Expected Contributions:

  • Implement and manage effective legal compliance programs in conjunction with Aviso
  • Monitor new legislation and regulatory communications, changes and proposed initiatives as it relates to Insurance and Investment portfolios
  • Analyze existing compliance policies and procedures to ensure operations policies and procedures are compliant
  • Increase awareness of such policies and ensure knowledge and procedures are well understood by the Wealth Management team
  • Ensure employee standards are carried out in accordance with the highest standards of business conduct and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Identify, develop, plan and implement sales compliance training programs in conjunction with organizational and staff needs. Ensure all employees are trained on the latest regulations and processes. Resolve employee concerns about legal compliance
  • Perform regular audits.  Provide representatives and wealth managers with audit results, maintain complete audit files, and ensure that the documentation is filed appropriately. Identify compliance deficiencies and implement corrective measures as required
  • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations
  • Ensure complaint process is adhered to across the organization including investigation of each complaint, completion and retention of logs and all applicable documentation
  • Ensure issues derived from day to day sales activities are identified, communicated, escalated and resolved promptly and effectively while allocation resources and staff accordingly
  • Advise management on the company’s compliance with laws and regulation, identified deficiencies and recommended actions, through detailed reports

Experience and Skills:

  • Must qualify to be registered as a Supervisor with IIROC and the MFDA. Experience as a Supervisor is preferred
  • CSC and LLQP is preferred, along with a post- secondary degree or program in Business.  CFP is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of industry rules and regulations is required
  • 3 – 5 years industry experience is required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, effective oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational, time management, problem solving and analytical skills
