SALARY: 52,707.20 – $58,804.20 (GS-35)
Reporting to the Supervisor of Credit Union Examinations this position performs comprehensive examinations and desk audits on credit unions to ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, accounting standards, sound business practices and credit union policies; assists in the monitoring of financial performance of credit unions; evaluates risk and exposure, allowance reserves and internal controls; identifies potential weaknesses and deficiencies which may affect the financial stability of credit unions; participates in special investigations of credit unions where there are implications of fraud and malfeasance; recommends financial standards, policies and procedures for credit unions and other related duties as assigned. Extensive in-province travel is required.
This position requires knowledge and experience with auditing practices in a financial management environment. The successful applicant will demonstrate effective analytical, communication and interpersonal skills as well as sound professional judgment and personal initiative. Knowledge and experience with lending practices as well as knowledge of credit union policies will be considered assets. These qualifications would normally be acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in business administration or commerce. Equivalencies may be considered. Candidates who possess a professional accounting designation will be given preference.
