Financial Services Officer, LaHave River Credit Union, NS

LaHave River Credit Union is a progress community based full-service financial institution with assets of $37 Million serving approximately 2300 members.  We are currently looking for a Financial Services Officer.  Through business development you will promote, up sell and cross sell the full range of products and services. Emphasis will be on consumer loans, mortgages, lines of credit, card products, registered and nonregistered investments, including *mutual funds.

*Candidate must be willing to obtain mutual funds licence within six months (Investment Funds in Canada IFC course through the Canadian Securities Institute; LRCU will pay for course).

The Position

  • Promote, sell and administer all personal lending, investment services and accounts.
  • Analyze potential opportunities to further assist the member by cross selling other credit union services
  • Be proactive in ongoing education
  • Provide financial advice, while delivering exceptional member service delivery
  • Be knowledgeable of all lending, investment & account products and services offered through LaHave River Credit Union & its partners
  • Proactively identify members current and future financial needs through active listening skills during member conversations, to provide our members with the appropriate products & services.
  • Contribute towards the branch business objectives by meetings or exceeding individual personal sales goals
  • Retain and expand member relationships to achieve business objectives
  • Actively participate in coaching sessions, meetings, and training requirements for your role
  • Customer and Personal Service, includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Understand analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Analyze current local market & potential trends to plan & develop relationship building activities
  • Represent the credit union and provide leadership in key community activities i.e. business, charitable, civic and social organizations.
  • Build relationships with outside contacts; i.e. Real Estate Agents, Brokers, etc.

The Person

  • As the ideal candidate for this position, you hold a diploma or degree in Business Administration or Commerce and have a minimum of 3-5 years of Credit Union experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Lending experience is considered an asset however LRCU is willing to train.
  • Have demonstrated ability to analyze risk and apply strong problem-solving skills
  • Sales oriented with a demonstrated ability to proactively listen, identify sales opportunities, and solve problems
  • Customer and Personal Service, includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to make strong independent decisions and make recommendations for lending over assigned limits
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Have the ability to multitask and self-manage
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with the proven ability to exercise sound judgment, and discretion
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Understand and apply operating policies and procedures, adhering to credit, & compliance

Obtaining an up to date clearance letter from the Police/RCMP, credit check and eligibility to be bonded are conditions of employment.  Salary will commensurate with experience.
