Student Awards & Bursaries
Atlantic credit unions are proud to support the academic success of students in our provinces. In total, 44 $500 bursaries are distributed to community college students each year.
Bursary programs are administered on behalf of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador credit unions by Atlantic Central.
New Brunswick – NBCC
As of this year, the credit unions of New Brunswick and the Atlantic provinces are pleased to support students attending the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) with $3,000 in bursaries. Six $500 bursaries will be awarded.
Also, the Harry M. Daley Memorial Bursaries ($1000 each) are provided by the credit unions of New Brunswick. In 2011, 8 were awarded – 4 to credit union members, 4 to non-members. The award is administered by the NBTA Credit Union. For more information or to apply, download PDF application.
Prince Edward Island – Holland College
As of this year, the credit unions of Prince Edward Island and the Atlantic provinces are pleased to support students attending Holland College with $3,000 in bursaries. Six $500 bursaries will be awarded.
Nova Scotia – NSCC
Credit unions in Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces have partnered with Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) since 1996 to provide bursaries to NSCC students. Two full-time students at each of the 13 NSCC campuses are awarded a $500 bursary with a total of $13,000 being provided annually. Nova Scotia credit unions are the longest serving financial institution donor to NSCC. Through their continuous support, Nova Scotia credit unions have provided bursaries to more than 300 NSCC students since 1996.

Newfoundland and Labrador – CNA
Credit unions of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Atlantic provinces launched a bursary program in fall 2009 to provide bursaries to students at the College of the North Atlantic (CNA). This year, the program diversified to offer both achievement awards and bursaries. Two full-time students in their second and third year of study will be awarded a $500 bursary or achievement award to be used to support their pursuit of higher learning. A total of $3,000 is being provided annually.
