IT Systems Administrator
Valley Credit Union, Nova Scotia, is a full-service financial institution with 7 branch locations, 62 employees, and over $280 Million in assets. Located within the Beautiful Annapolis Valley.
Valley Credit Union has an immediate need for: IT Systems Administrator, this position will be based out of Valley Credit Union’s Head Office located 5682 Hwy. 1 Waterville N.S. Salary to be Commensurate Experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operational activities of help-desk support, network administration and systems at Valley Credit Union.
Reporting to the IT Manager, as a member of our Information Technology team, the Systems Administrator will provide a full range of IT services to support our operations within the Annapolis Valley, from Hantsport to Bridgetown.
Key Responsibilities (the position):
- Troubleshooting issues across several technology areas including Windows 10/11, Linux, and Mac OS environment, Microsoft Office365, FTP access, networks, hardware, and desktop application issues.
- Establish and maintain user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security; monitor and maintain backup system.
- Have a strong working understanding of Microsoft Server and DELL/VMWare. Responsible for daily administrative duties involved in supporting, maintaining, monitoring, and tuning a virtual server. Manage backups of all servers and systems at production and failover sites.
- Experience with a range of technologies: Windows 10/11; VOIP; and desktop/laptop imaging
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills with exceptional organization skills.
- Perform off-hour maintenance and support for server, system, and network updates and system patches as required.
- Making routine decisions and recommendations using established guidelines, procedures, or polices. Resolving issues of a routine nature working under general supervision.
- Responding to and resolving incidents and service requests for workstation services; providing front-line IT Help Desk support including Desktop/Laptop, Phone/Voice System, Wireless devices, Printers.
- Provide support and maintenance of end user device hardware and software environments, including diagnosis, repair, and upgrade activities.
- Administrate various servers including Domain Name Service (DNS), Internet Information Systems (IIS), including maintenance of Active Directory structure, Group Policy, user security, security updates, hardening standards, and patches.
- Completing employee workstation setup and moves, including on-site or off-site as required, machine images and upgrading machines as required.
- Monitoring our ticketing system to ensure problems and issues are being addressed in a timely.
- Workday is 8:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday, this position may be required to work the occasional evening or weekend hours.

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Certifications would be considered an asset:
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
- VMware Certified Associate
- 3-5 years’ experience in an IT Support (Help Desk/Service Desk) operational role
- Degree or College Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Experience with a range of technologies: Windows 10/11; Microsoft Office365; VOIP; and desktop/laptop imaging

- Must have a valid driver’s license, and own a vehicle, as this position will be required to support the branches throughout the Valley.
